This article introduces the pricing policy for the Agora Real-time Messaging (RTM) service.

Overview

Pricing for the RTM service begins once you implement the real-time messaging function using the Agora RTM SDK. Agora calculates the pricing of all projects under your Agora account monthly. For details, see Billing, fee deduction, and account suspension.

Calculation

Agora calculates your monthly pricing by adding up the highest number of daily active users (DAUs) for the month of each RTM project in your Agora developer account.

Each user ID that logs in to the RTM system is recognized as an active user for that day. If the same user ID logs in multiple times during a day, that user is still counted as an active user only once. Agora compares the total active users for each day of the month to find the day with the highest number and bills you based on the DAUs for that day.

Pricing

For each Agora developer account, Agora reduces the highest number of DAUs for the month by 1,000 before calculating your monthly billing. In other words, the first 1,000 in the highest number of DAUs for the month are free.

Example

One project

A user uses the Agora RTM service, and the highest number of DAUs for the month is 9,000. Because the first 1,000 in the highest number of DAUs for the month are free of charge, the number of DAUs used to calculate the monthly billing is 8,000. Therefore, the monthly billing for the RTM service is 8,000 (DAUs) / 1,000 (DAUs) × $14.50 = $116.

Two projects

A user uses the Agora RTM service in project A and project B. The highest number of DAUs for the month in project A is 9,000, and the highest number of DAUs for the month in project B is 5,000. Because the first 1,000 in the highest number of DAUs for the month are free of charge, the number of DAUs used to calculate the monthly billing is 9,000 + 5,000 - 1,000 = 13,000. Therefore, the monthly billing for the RTM service is 13,000 (DAUs) / 1,000 (DAUs) × $14.50 = $188.5.
